Welcome to Malibu

Exceptional natural beauty and relaxed luxury in an iconic seaside town

Gorgeous wide beaches, spectacular mountains, world class shopping, and dining over 21 miles of breathtaking coastal beauty – this is the paradise known as Malibu, located about 30 miles west of downtown Los Angeles. With a Mediterranean climate and a relaxed sense of luxury, Malibu is a coveted destination for everyone from surfers to Hollywood executives. Incorporated into a city in 1991, the mission statement of Malibu promises to “protect the environment and lifestyle and to preserve unaltered natural resources and rural characteristics’. This is a place for people who seek out nature and the serenity it brings, but need to be close to a major metropolitan area.

Malibu residents have high expectations and sophisticated palates, and the restaurants and boutiques in this affluent area take note. The Malibu Country Mart may sport a quaint-sounding name, but this carefully curated collection of shops and cafes is entirely upscale. Rubin Chapelle features clothing with New York City urbanity and California coastal chic, while Canvas Malibu sets the tone for an artful way of life. Malibu Farm offers alfresco dining and a fresh, healthy menu of organic coastal fare. Bask in the California sunshine while you dine here or wander to the end of the Malibu Pier for a coffee and farm-fresh eggs at Malibu Farm Pier Cafe. The legendary Nobu stuns with a creative menu of Japanese cuisine, and the laid-back Malibu Seafood features an ocean-fresh cafe and market. Solstice Canyon and Corral Canyon Park are some of the locals favorite hikes to experience Malibu’s untamed beauty in all its glory, while the lovely Malibu Bluffs Park is an idyllic spot for a playdate or afternoon stroll.

Those with a taste for a laid back lifestyle, relaxation, and beautiful natural surroundings will find themselves right at home in Malibu. Ocean lovers will find some of the best spots in Southern California to catch a wave, snorkel, whale watch, kite surf or paddle board. If you love the mountains, Malibu’s rugged terrain and spectacular natural beauty is a welcome playground for adventure and exploration with hundreds of miles of hiking, mountain biking, and horse trails. Whether you’re seeking the serenity of beachfront living, the panoramic views from a mountain top bluff, the beauty of canyon properties, or a low maintenance condo lifestyle, there is a place for you in Malibu. The 58 separate “neighborhoods” comprising Malibu reflect the many facets of this unique area’s sunny charm. Each neighborhood has a different feel and level of privacy, ranging from the ultra prestigious Malibu Colony, evoking the sense of Old Hollywood, to the family friendly Malibu West. Many of these neighborhoods are not easily accessible without the help of a local expert. Kristin loves to educate and show her clients new to the area about the place she loves and calls home.
