Welcome to Malibu's Beach Communities

Seaside tranquility and natural splendor in Malibu’s coastal areas

Iconic. Coveted. Breathtakingly beautiful. Much has been said of Malibu’s beach neighborhoods and all of it is true. Old Hollywood’s most glamorous stars played on the same sandy shores that now boast sleek modern estates. International surf stars have coasted the breaks and even nature’s most imposing creature chooses to winter here – every December, the California gray whale can be seen migrating down the coast. The 13 beach communities in Malibu each boast their own brand of sought-after luxury.

On the easternmost ocean side of Malibu sits the neighborhood of Big Rock named for the craggy rock just off the shore of Big Rock Beach. Beginning just after Big Rock, Las Flores is also coveted for its proximity to Santa Monica and the Westside amenities. La Costa residents can enjoy the private La Costa beach club. Carbon Beach, also known as “Billionaire Beach,” is the most prestigious stretch of Malibu’s coastline and is just steps from luxe destinations like Nobu and Little Beach House. The ultra exclusive gated community of Malibu Colony, the original destination for old Hollywood comes next and marks the beginning of Central Malibu. Malibu Road, also known as the “Old Road,” offers a beach living with the convenience of the largest shopping are in Malibu close by. The getaway retreat of Latigo Shores is located within a wonderful protected cove. The gated Malibu Cove Colony has dramatic views spanning all the way to Point Dume, sports stunning tide pools and quiet luxury. Escondido Beach boasts secluded shores and the famous Geoffrey's Restaurant. The laid-back Paradise Cove offers the Paradise Cove Beach Cafe, an upscale mobile home park, and some of the most expensive real estate in Malibu. After Point Dume, Broad Beach was once home to Frank Sinatra. Today this hidden gem features gorgeous sand dunes and is only minutes from the chic Trancas Country Market and scenic hiking trails. The highly coveted gated community of Victoria Point claims incredible ocean views and private beach entrances. And finally, at the far western end of Malibu, out of sight of the public eye, sits Encinal Bluffs, the area’s most private beachfront retreat. The lavish estates here enjoy a sandy backyard and private beaches. Set in a secluded gated area, Encinal Bluffs offers very little public access, in turn giving residents the luxurious gift of true privacy.
